It’s with a heavy heart that we report the passing of Costa Titch, a popular South African rapper, who sadly died while performing at the Ultra Music Festival in Johannesburg. According to reports, Costa fell down on stage during his performance but continued to sing after being helped up by his bodyguard. Sadly, he collapsed a second time and had to be carried off stage.
Phil Mphela, a well-known South African media personality, confirmed the news on Twitter and expressed his condolences. Costa Titch, whose real name was Costa Tsobanoglou, was just 27 years old.
Costa Titch was a talented rising star in the South African music industry and was widely known for his contribution to the Amapiano genre with hits such as ‘Big Flexa’, ‘Nkalakatha’, and ‘Activate’. He had recently signed a record deal with Akon’s Konvict Kulture label. His passing is a significant loss to the industry, coming shortly after the tragic death of fellow musician Kiernan Forbes, also known as AKA, who was shot in February.
Our thoughts go out to Costa Titch’s family, friends, and fans during this difficult time
