Ryan Garcia signs contract for next fight with opponent reportedly revealed, but it’s not Manny Pacquiao or Gervonta Davis

Ryan Garcia has stated that he’s now signed the contract for his next fight.

It’s reported that his opponent will be Javier Fortuna, not Manny Pacquiao or Gervonta Davis who he previously called out.

The 22-year-old lightweight star scored a career-best win over Luke Campbell at the start of the year and subsequently demanded a showdown with Davis.

However, before they even started talks he received an approach about a potential super fight with Pacquiao.

Ultimately, this did not come to fruition.

Pacquiao is now in discussions to potentially face Terence Crawford while Davis is being lined up for a contest against Mario Barrios.

Garcia’s win over Campbell gave him the WBC ‘interim’ belt and made him mandatory for Devin Haney, however the WBC decided not to enforce that fight after talking to both camps.

Instead they ordered Garcia to face Fortuna – another solid lightweight contender – to determine Haney’s sole mandatory.

It was reported by The Athletic last week that terms are now agreed for this fight to take place in July.

And Garcia said on Instagram: “Fight contract signed, big announcement Tuesday.

“Time to do as I do.”
