Man arrested for attempting to kill okada rider and steal motorcycle in Ogun State

A man identified as Sodade Sesan was arrested by the Amotekun Corps in Ogun State for allegedly attempting to kill an okada rider (commercial motorcyclist) and stealing his motorcycle. According to the Commandant of the Amotekun Corps, the incident occurred on April 4 at about 10 am when Sesan stopped the bike rider, Mohammed Bashiru, under the pretense of needing a ride to and fro Iperu.

After an agreement of N800, the suspect asked Bashiru to change his destination to Abuja Bar area in Ilisan Remo. It was at this location that he brought out a sharp knife and slit the right side of the victim’s neck, threw him by the road, and took his motorcycle, which was worth N450,000 and registered as SGM 220 WA.

The okada rider was later treated and discharged from the Ogere Medical Centre. Meanwhile, Sesan removed the number plate of the motorcycle, dumped it in a latrine in his residence, and took the stolen bike to a burial ground at Kehinde Avenue, Isara-Remo. However, the Amotekun Corps apprehended him through “painstaking intelligence” and recovered the missing motorcycle at a time when he was searching for prospective buyers.

Sesan confessed to the crime during interrogation. The Amotekun Corps commandant appreciated the people of Ogun State for their willingness to provide credible information to the corps.
