Former Tottenham star suggests club should SELL Harry Kane to fund complete team rebuild after ‘pathetic’ performance from Spurs against Manchester United

Tottenham should cash in on Harry Kane this summer, former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara has told talkSPORT.

In fact, the ex-White Hart Lane ace reeled off a list of ‘pathetic’ players who should be sold by the club this summer to raise funds for a complete team rebuild.

Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham is yet again a huge topic of debate

O’Hara insists even he could do a better job on the pitch than some of the current Tottenham stars after the team’s latest collapse in the Premier League.

Jose Mourinho’s men held a 1-0 lead at the break as they hosted Manchester United on Sunday, but ultimately lost 3-1 after a performance which the talkSPORT pundit blasted as ‘not good enough’.

The result, as well as leaving Spurs seventh in the table and six points adrift of the top-four, has also cast an even darker shadow over Kane’s future at the club.

Kane was even linked with a stunning transfer to Old Trafford after Spurs’ defeat, with Red Devils legend Roy Keane claiming the England captain would ‘fancy’ a move to join United.

O’Hara obviously wants Kane to stay in north London, but admits things are so bad within Tottenham’s squad that it makes sense to flog the hitman to fund a total rebuild.

Edinson Cavani scored once and had another goal harshly ruled out for offside as Spurs were well beaten by Man United

“As a Spurs fan obviously you don’t want Harry Kane to ever leave the football club,” he said on Monday’s talkSPORT Breakfast.

“But if he is going to leave and you’re outside the top-four… there NEEDS to be a rebuild there.

“The club is a joke at the minute, the players are not good enough, no desire, no heart.

“You look at Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Erik Lamela, Davison Sanchez, Eric Dier… we could raise £200million here and build a new team.

“It might not be with Harry Kane but you could sign six or seven new, young, hungry and vibrant star players who want to take Spurs to a new level.

“The Carabao Cup is the only saving grace in the season for us now, that’s why we’re not talking about Mourinho getting the sack yet, but I can’t see us winning, I can’t see us beating Man City.

“As soon as that’s over I think the whole world is going to come down on Spurs.

“Tottenham were shocking against Manchester United. They were poor, not good enough.

“How many times I’ve watched Spurs go in at half-time leading the game and then come out for the second half and just fall apart… I don’t know what the gaffer is saying at half-time but it must have been a really bad team talk.

“Mourinho is not a manager who gets the best out of his players, he finishes players! Gareth Bale looks like he’s finished, Dele Alli, Sanchez, they look finished.

“But they also need to be held accountable, because some of the performances from the players out there is pathetic. There’s no heart, no desire.

“There were six minutes of injury time, Bale and Lamela came on and Man United just kept the ball for six minutes. If I was a player and Paul Pogba was bringing the ball down in the corner and doing all these fancy tricks, I’d go and nail him!

“Even if I got sent off – SOMEONE TACKLE HIM!

“It’s so frustrating to watch as a Spurs fan, these players are getting paid an awful lot of money and they’re just letting Man United players run around and do what they want. It’s so, so bad.

“I could run around… put me on with six minutes left in a game and I guarantee you I will get on the ball and try and make something happen, and if I don’t make something happen, I’ll go and nail someone.”
