Boko Haram Terrorists Ambush 'Lafiya Dole' Commander In Borno

The Boko Haram terrorist group on Tuesday reportedly killed at least five soldiers in Ajiri community, Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State.

Before Tuesday’s killing, a security source revealed that the terrorists had earlier murdered six civilians and a security operative on Monday.

The incident of Tuesday happened shortly after a visit to the community by the acting governor of the state, Usman Kadafur, Naija News understands.

Another source narrated that 15 civilian JTF and 10 civilians were also killed in the fresh attack that took place on Tuesday morning.

The insurgents also reportedly stole five vehicles; three from vigilantes, one gun truck from the Nigerian military, and one from CJTF during the attack.

“The insurgents seriously engaged the Nigerian military in a gun battle that lasted for several hours before finally dislodging the Special Forces at Ajiri.

“Some of the Special Forces personnel were seen scampering for safety as most of them made their way to Mafa for safety,” Abduljamil Adamu, a CJTF personnel, told Punch.

The acting Governor of the state, Usman Kadafur has condoled with the families of those who lst loved ones to the attack and ordered the immediate reconstruction of destroyed houses.

When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Okon Edet, denied comment on the matter, noting that the matter is a military issue and out of his jurisdiction.

However, the army could not be reached on Wednesday for comment on the matter.

Meanwhile, the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has told the presidency under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari to stop issuing unnecessary statements but rather settle down and get the job done.

The NEF secretary, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed noted that leadership is much more about taking action rather than talking and releasing statements about every issue.

Baba-Ahmed who spoke on Wednesday in an interview with The Punch in Abuja, spoke against the recent alarm by the federal government that some persons have planned to overthrow the current administration.
