Erling Haaland to West Ham? Hammers assistant Stuart Pearce jokes about signing Borussia Dortmund star – ‘I know Alf-Inge fairly well!’

Erling Haaland’s next club is one of football’s great mysteries right now, but one thing is absolutely certain: he’s not going to West Ham.

Or is he? Hammers assistant Stuart Pearce might just have something to say about that.

Haaland will be looking for Champions League football next season if Dortmund finish outside the top four

Pearce was at Signal Iduna Park to watch Man City dump Borussia Dortmund out of the Champions League on Wednesday night, disguised as a talkSPORT commentator but secretly there on a scouting mission.

While the likes of United, City and Chelsea are linked with Haaland, with significantly more financial power than the Hammers, agent Pearce has a contact.

He played alongside Haaland’s father, Alf-Inge, at Nottingham Forest back in the day, and with West Ham in desperate need of a striker, now could be the time to call in any overdue favours.

Pearce has helped mastermind an incredible season for West Ham

Besides, West Ham could be in the Champions League next season. What more could Haaland want?

“I’m sure we could push the asking price up beyond our means, that’ll definitely happen at our place!” Pearce joked on talkSPORT.

“You know we’re in the market for anybody – and because I know Alf-Inge fairly well having played with him, don’t rule it out at this stage.”

They could get themselves a cut-price fee after Haaland went a seventh game without scoring in the second leg defeat to City, notching just one shot on target over the two games.

Disclaimer: West Ham probably aren’t going to sign Haaland.
