Ebonyi State PDP Chairman Rejects Party's Candidate

The chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, Mr. Tochukwu Okorie, has rejected the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, and instead advocates for the rotation of power to Ebonyi North senatorial zone. With the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections just a day away, Okorie called on those who have not yet understood the importance of this decision to join hands in ensuring that the power equation of the state is not subverted, in the spirit of equity.

Okorie also accused the state PDP legal adviser, Mudi Erhenede, and the deputy chairman, Ifeanyi Nworie, of causing the downfall of the party. He claimed that his disputes have always been with an imposter and usurper who they were using to destabilize the party and weaken the political base of the party’s leader, to pave the way for a certain presidential candidate.

Okorie clarified that it was Odii who, after claiming victory in a cancelled primary election of the party, ran to court to challenge his own victory. Okorie further stated that he was not involved in all the pre-election matters that rocked the PDP in Ebonyi, and that it started when Odii first approached the court to challenge the cancellation of the party’s primary election.
