Dana White confirms Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier trilogy fight will take place on July 10 in front of 20,000 fans at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas

Dana White has confirmed Conor McGregor’s trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier will take place at UFC 264 in front of 20,000 fans at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

McGregor’s return to the Octagon in January was ruined by a punch-perfect performance from Poirier at UFC 257 on Fight Island as he stopped ‘The Notorious’ in the second round.

Seven years after they first met as featherweights in 2014, Poirier finally exacted revenge for that first round knockout and the scores are now level.

The two men have engaged in a series of nasty Tweets about one another in recent days with ‘The Diamond’ alleging the former two-weight world champion has not made the donation to his charity as previously promised.

McGregor instantly fired back, suggesting the fight was off and there could be even more animosity when they face one another for the third time.

“I am so happy to finally be able to say Vegas is back,” White told fans on social media.

20,000 fans will be in attendance for the trilogy showdown in Las Vegas

“This summer, Las Vegas is back open for business and on July 10, UFC 264 will be at the T-Mobile Arena at 100 per cent capacity.

“Ladies and gentleman, that is 20,000 fans and this card will be headlined by the third fight between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor.”

The Irishman remains one of the biggest draws in sport and Poirier himself turned down a title opportunity to ensure he got the trilogy bout.

Instead, Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler will meet for the vacant lightweight title at UFC 262, with the winner likely to face either Poirier or McGregor in their first defence.
