CM Punk says Triple H is the ‘biggest match’ for him in WWE, but he’s not interested as AEW star Kenny Omega is name-dropped

CM Punk has admitted Triple H would be the ‘biggest match’ for him in WWE.

However, the former WWE champion, who has been highly critical of Vince McMahon and Triple H since leaving WWE in 2014, is not interested in it.

CM always seems to be linked with a shock return to WWE

Punk, real name Phil Brooks, told Uproxx: “From a creative mind standpoint, stepping back and looking at the landscape of everything, there are people in WWE that I have wrestled before that maybe, in a certain situation could be interesting.

“There’s also the business side of things. What’s the biggest possible match for CM Punk? I think there’s Kenny Omega on the one side.

“And, you know, unfortunately, ironically enough, for me to go back to WWE, who’s the biggest match for me? It’s probably Triple H. That’s ironic because it’s nothing I’m interested in. It’s just what it is.

“Am I going to be a businessman and say that’s the match, that’s the big-money match? Well, it’s not my money, so it’s not for me to say.”

Punk has had a stint in mixed martial arts and become a published author since leaving WWE.

And the 42-year-old, who is starring in Jakob’s Wife, a movie set to be released on Friday, believes WWE no longer needs him.

Triple H rarely wrestles nowadays, but a match with CM Punk would go down well with WWE fans

He explained: “I think the right combination could maybe be figured out, but it’s also not for me to figure out.

“It’s not my world anymore. I’m certainly not Hulk Hogan, where I’m going to show up somewhere and be like, ‘no, this is how it’s going to be’.

“The wrestling world doesn’t necessarily need CM Punk and that’s absolutely fine.”

Earlier this month, Triple H played down the slim chances of a WWE return for Punk.

He said: “Last time I talked to [Punk]? A year-and-a-half… a year and three quarters ago?

“I don’t know whether he does [want to return] or not, but that has to be what he wants.

CM Punk tried his luck in mixed martial arts after leaving wrestling

“When people talk about that, they go, ‘make the call!’ What says if we make the call he wants to answer? What says if we make the call he doesn’t go, like, ‘yeah, I’m not interested in doing that anymore’. Maybe he’s just done with it.

“I think that those are conversations that only those people can directly answer. I think if he wants to do it, either we would get word and we would have those conversations or he would make a call, or you know, anything like that.

“But there has to be a desire there to do something like that. This business is too all in to just go like, ‘eh, alright, I’ll do it.’”
