A pro-Biafra group known as the Biafra Nations League (BNL) has clamied that Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, who was reportedly killed by ISWAP, is not dead.

Recall that after news of Shekau’s death emerged, former presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba, had asked IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu and Yoruba freedom fighter Sunday Igboho Adeyemo to learn from the terrorist leader’s death.

He had wrote on Twitter, “My only concern with Shekau’s death is on him having the liberty to chose how he died. He should have been stoned to death by villagers at Doron Baga Market square on live TV, under the supervision of the Nigerian Military for all to see. That’ll send a message to Kanu & Igboho.”

But reacting in a statement on Friday, National Leader of BNL, Princewill Chimezie Richard, said that all those rejoicing over the news of his passing should hide their faces in shame.

BNL noted that this is about the sixth time Shekau had been reported killed, adding that the Boko Haram leader seems to have many lives and resurrects whenever he dies.

The pro-Biafra group stated thta if Shekau actually died, there was no need for the government to rejoice because the military failed to kill or capture him.

BNL said “there is no lesson to learn from the alleged death of Shekau. Boko Haram is a small group in Borno, whereas Biafra is a nation.

“If any prominent Biafran is harmed it would lead to regional unrest which may eventually turn to another civil war.”

Information gathered by Naija News on the development has it that Shekau died on the evening of Wednesday, 19th May 2021.

He was said to have died following the invasion of his Sambisa forest stronghold by fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) loyal to the Islamic State (ISIS).

After overpowering the Boko Haram fighters, Shekau was said to have surrendered and engaged in a long meeting with the ISWAP fighters.

He was given the option to voluntarily relinquish power and order his fighters in other areas to declare allegiance to ISWAP’s authority.

However, Shekau according to sources had other ideas as instead of issuing a statement as expected, he blew up a secret suicide vest he had on him, killing himself and many others present during the negotiation.
