After analysing the Qur’an and the Bible, it seems that difference between Islam and Christianity is the messenger. Is there any merit to this claim?

It is true. The ethics are quite similar, as well as the way the world and its mechanics are described, in both books (and also in the book of Mormon and a handful of other similar books).

Most of the stories about prophets in Islam, are taken from the OT/NT. Quran has very brief, but accurate (using very delicate wording) stories of the prophets. Yet they share common components.
